Commanding the skyline above both Isfjorden and Åndalsnes, the Vengetind ridge is a chain of sharp peaks wrapped in glaciers and classic alpine terrain. At the northern end stands Store Vengetind (1,852 m). There are several ways to reach it: the Normal Route is the most straightforward and time-efficient, while the spectacular Vengetind Traverse is a full alpine circuit that follows an airy crest over Søre Vengetind and Lille Vengetind before finishing on the summit of Store Vengetind. First climbed by the pioneer W.C. Slingsby in 1881, Store Vengetind has since become a benchmark objective—an elegant mix of challenge and prestige for generations of climbers.
