About the course
A practical, field-first program for skiers who want to reach sharper summits and steeper couloirs. We focus on simple, reliable systems that work with gloves on and skis strapped to your pack—so you can handle real mountain problems without drama.

What you’ll learn

Core ropework: essential knots, quick checks, rope handling with gloves
Anchors that matter: rock/snow/ice options, natural features, quick backups
Short belays & short-roping: when and how to use them on ridges and steps
Rappels & lowers: setup, edge safety, fireman belay, stuck-rope prevention
Movement & tools: crampon/axe basics, step-kicking, mixed steps with skis on pack
Transitions that save time: skin-off/on, bootpacks, clips and stow systems
Terrain & decisions: choosing safe lines in steep winter terrain, simple comms

Who it’s for
Strong intermediate to advanced tourers. No prior climbing experience required—just solid touring fitness, decent kick turns, and comfort with heights.

Format & season

1 day: fundamentals + practical mileage
2 days: add multi-pitch lowers/rappels, more complex terrain and scenarios
