Høgruta Jotunheimen — five days hut-to-hut (long)
About
Høgruta is Jotunheimen’s signature tour: five linked days across the high plateau with glacier sections, spacious valleys and horizon-wide views. We travel light between huts, keep the pace calm, and chase the best snow within clear safety margins.
How it works
-
Format: 5 consecutive days, hut-to-hut for more skiing and less weight on your back.
-
Terrain: Mellow glaciers, open high-mountain slopes, and sheltered gullies when weather asks for it. Optional summits when conditions allow.
-
Pace & distance: Typically 12–20 km and 800–1,500 m of ascent per day (adjusted to group and conditions).
Who it suits
Strong intermediate to advanced tourers who enjoy several days in a row at a steady pace and appreciate a clear safety framework. You don’t need to be extreme—consistent fitness and winter sense are what count.
Huts & meals
We use DNT/private huts for dinner, breakfast and packed lunch. I handle bookings and logistics so you can focus on the skiing.
Season & dates
Best from March to May. Windows fill quickly—get in touch early.
Kit & safety
Full touring setup (skis/skins/boots) and avalanche gear (beacon/probe/shovel) required. Lightweight crampons/ice axe may be needed in some seasons. Route choices follow the avalanche bulletin, weather and visibility; glacier protocols used where appropriate.
Flexible add-ons
Want a big summit (e.g., Galdhøpiggen) or a skills refresher on Day 1? We can tailor within the bounds of weather and safety.
