With its sharp, unmistakable skyline, Store Austabotntind (2,204 m) is one of the area’s most recognizable mountains—its long ridge draws the eye from far down the valley. The climbing is engaging and airy without being overly technical: plenty of hands-on movement, big exposure in places, and constant views that keep you smiling all the way to the summit.
Set on the western edge of Hurrungane, the Austabottstindane massif forms a striking block of peaks, and Store Austabotntind is the star. It’s a natural choice if you want a memorable high-ridge day with time to soak up the scenery, and it’s a favourite for both 2,000-metre peak collectors and climbers looking for a solid, classic objective rather than maximum difficulty.
